    Der britische Altrockstar Rod Stewart hat sich in einem Interview mit einem Fachmagazin als großer Modelleisenbahn-Fan geoutet.
    Zwischen Musizieren im Studio und Konzerttourneen hat der von der Queen zum Sir geadelte Rod Stewart in den letzten 23 Jahren an einem riesigen, detaillierten Modell einer US-Stadt gebastelt. Er hat sein Werk im Rahmen eines Interviews dem Branchenblatt „Railway Modeller“ präsentiert.

    „Viele Leute lachen darüber“
    Als ein Moderator einer BBC-Show meinte, Stewart habe das Modell wohl nicht selbst gebaut, rief Stewart live in der Sendung an und wies das als falsche Unterstellung zurück. „Ich würde sagen, ich habe 90 Prozent davon selbst gebaut. Das Einzige, was ich nicht gut kann, ist die Elektrik, daher habe ich das von jemandem machen lassen.“
    Rod Stewart hat in den 23 Jahren, in denen er an dem Modell arbeitete, 13 Studioalben und insgesamt 19 Tourneen absolviert. Die Modellstadt hat New York und Chicago rund um das Jahr 1945 als Vorbilder.
    „Viele Leute lachen darüber und sagen, das sei ein dummes Hobby, aber es ist eine wundervolle Beschäftigung“, so der „I am Sailing“-Star.
